Wonderful site. Loved seeing the illustrations and the book covers. Reminds me of my childhood. I have been collecting Enid Blyton's books for my kids. Now they are grown ups but we want to preserve the books for posterity...
March 6, 2008 Janet Lettrich says...
As a child, I repeatedly checked out books from the adventure series from our local library. I read my favorites over and over. When I had my own children, I sent to England for copies of the books, and my oldest daughter enjoyed them as much as I did. Now they are waiting to be enjoyed by my grandchildren! And I admit to re-reading one now and again my self! Thank you for a wonderful website.

Wow great site! Some really helpful information there. I’m sorry for little off-topic, but I want to ask you about design of this site. Did you make this template yourself or got from any templates website? Looks pretty cool for me. Wonderful well this reading.

It was great to visit your site and catch up on "my childhood"! I grew up reading Enid Blyton's books and they were always my top request for birthday & Christmas presents. After I started work I added to my collection as my sister & I were both collecting and our main sets were separated when we left home. My favourite series were Famous Five (of course!!), the Barney series & the Adventure series, however I also enjoy many of my stand-alone titles. During school holidays I love nothing better than to pull these stories from my shelves & re-read them over again. I enjoyed taking the polls and reading the results. Thanks, Heather, for a terrific site.

I think your site is quite good.Could you tell me how to get the book 'Up the Faraway Tree'?
Heather (site owner) says: It is a very difficult book to find - try Ebay.

Anyon Cook was a she not a he ! Married to an artist Frederick cook and they lived in Polperro ,Cornwall. She died a few years ago. One of the "glossys" did a report on her shortly after her death, as i think she did fashion illustrations??
Heather (site owner) says: Really??! It is so hard when researching these more 'minor' illustrators - I can often find a list of books they illustrated, but little biographical information. As I know some male Anyons I took a guess. Thank you, I'll update the page.

A belated Happy New Year, Heather - any plans for a belated new year update? :-)
Heather (site owner) says: :-) I am finally getting around to an update. Should be up today.

It's so fantastic to find so much good stuff dedicated to Enid Blyton on the net. I'm thrilled by this and the sites that led me here. Keep up the brilliant work, love it!

Your description of the person most likely to visit this site is me! I can honestly say those are the answers I would have given to those polls. This is a wonderful site, and along with Keith's have given me almost a week's worth of solid and interesting reading. Reading reviews and trivia on the sites has also prompted me to re-read some of my collection yet again. I have around 100 books, all pre-1970 cloth covered books, some I have inherited from my Mum and aunts - those I have read 20 or 30 times! The rest I have picked up on eBay and in charity shops but I have still managed to read these more than once each! Again, well done on your jolly marvelous site!

October 31, 2007 james napper says...
i.have in my posession the big enid blyton book, 1965. inside on page 10 is a hand written letter to mrs blyton, which is interesting. i,ll quote the first paragraph "dear mrs blyton, herewith i have the honour to present to you in pictures, little noddy, big ears, mr and mrs tubby, and some other characters from your stories, which reached me through messrs [i think] sampson low.some days ago," there is aline of ten or so of these characters, along the top of the letter, and a picture of what appears to be a golliwog holding a card saying with compliments, and the end of the name looks like its dutch, last two words being van loek, and signature at end of letter appears to be mrs lbe, the letter goes on for a lot longer, and it seems the characters, are here before mrs blyton put them in her books, can any one shed any light on this.
Heather (site owner) says: Yes, this letter was reprinted in The Big Enid Blyton Book as you say. I have a copy of it myself. It is a lovely letter from Harmsen Van der Beek to Enid to introduce the artwork he had created for the Noddy characters. You can read more on my own Illustrator Pages, or at Wikipedia Of course, we all know from there that Enid chose him as the first Noddy illustrator. It is a lovely book - you are priveliged to own a copy.

Hello Heather, do you have any suggestion why Enid Blyton never became popular in the US as for example Roald Dahl? Thanks for the answer! Greetings from Germany Lisa
Heather (site owner) says: Hi. I'm sorry, but I have no idea why Enid was never popular in the US. However, she did win her only literary award there, for Mystery Island (the US print of The Island of Adventure)..

Wonderful website, Heather! I've spent quite a lot of time browsing through the pages and I have REALLY enjoyed "A Spot of Fun" page. I was nearly in fits of laughter! I loved Enid's books as a child and I remember my favorite books were probably the Magic Faraway Tree and the Wishing Chair ones. I never had time for The Famous Five and other mystery/adventure series - probably because I was addicted to fantasy! If you have enjoyed reading the Magic Farway Tree books I'm sure you will enjoy the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis, Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander and of course the Harry Poter series by Jo Rowling. PS: I'm rather touched by your "personal beliefs" page.
Heather (site owner) says: Thank you, Fiona. It's nice to hear from you. I'm glad you liked my beliefs page - it's a rather large part of my life. I do love the Narnia books too, but I'm not so keen on Harry Potter. I've never heard of the Chronicles of Prydain - I'll have too look them up.

Heather I'm so excited to find your website and discover how much of a fan you are of Enid Blyton. I'm from Adelaide S.Aust. now living in Las Vegas. I'm not sure what it was that brought the memory of reading The Magic Faraway Tree but I decided to try and track it down for my nephews and nieces. I read that you had been introduced to the books as a child of six as was I, and found them to be a comfort I can identify with that too. I just purchased a copy of The magic Faraway Tree and was so delited to flick through the pages and see all the pictures of the children and Moon face etc the memories just came flooding back it was wonderful. I think I too will be come a collector of these fine books. I had not realized there were other series of Enid Blyton books. Thanks for your web site. Regards Jane

Am more than a month late with this, but Heather, the new page "Blytonian Happenings" is great. I was rather interested about the Rude Mechanical Theatre Company, but was put off at the mention of ".... is aimed at adults." Anyway, what made you think of the page? It is a great idea, and I'm sure I couldn't think of it if I thought for a month!
Heather (site owner) says: Thanks, Ming. I thought of the page when one of my contributors had an event that he wanted to publicise through my site. I do need to update that particular page, actually, so thanks for reminding me.

Delightful site, Heather! You and Keith deserve medals for services to EB fandom - it's obviously a labour of love. I especially enjoyed your illustrators section (Tresilian is my favourite children's artist ever) and I loved the pics of your collection. Your shelves look amazingly like mine. When I started collecting children's adventure series again as an adult (EB, Hardys, Nancy Drew, Malcolm Saville) I visited my folks' home hoping to find some. But my elder siblings had beaten me to it, so I had to start from scratch. I mainly collect 50s and 60s Adventure, SS and FF in hardback with dust jackets like my siblings owned, but can't resist the Armada pbacks too which were all I could afford as a kid. I have quite a collection now and am always on the lookout for better copies.
Heather (site owner) says: Thank you so much for your high praise! It sounds like your collection is lovely - keep it up!
March 30, 2007 Prem Gurnani says...
I absolutely adore the illustrations in some of her books of the 40's and 50's. Some of the original art work for the Adventure series appeared at a Sotheby's auction about 10 years ago. Is there any other art work about for purchase? Thanks
Heather (site owner) says: I'm sorry, Prem - I don't know about artwork that could be purchased. There was some put up for auction last year by Enid's daughters, but other than that you could try doing a search for the particular artist's name that you're interested in.

The weblinks were gr8. I'm rather interested in the madonna-blyton incidence. have u got more information, heather
Heather (site owner) says: I do have a couple of weblinks on the subject - type "madonna" into my Google site search (on the home page) and you should come up with something. Most of the other articles around just repeated what was there already. You could also try a normal web search for the words "madonna" and "blyton", which may get you more information.

Hi. In response to Nitya's question on 10th Jan, the book which you are looking for is Five On Kirrin Island Again. Dick says he should give Joanna the OBCBE - Order of the Best Cooks of the British Empire. I am new to this site and I think it's absolutely fab! My teacher used to read us the Famous Five books every afternoon at primary school and I loved it. I still read them all the time now. I'm collecting Enid Blyton books for my daughter when she's old enough to read them. I hope she'll enjoy them as much as me. Once again, an amazing website. Thank you.

Hi Heather, I am back again and this time with another doubt(Please let me know if I am bothering you with my doubts but your site is the only one that answers questions on Enid Blyton).....In which book does Dick call Joanna something like "The Best Cook In The British Empire" or something like that?? I am reallly sorry if I am troubling you. I'm really sorry...............
Heather (site owner) says: I'm not sure what book that is, Nitya. If you have any questions about Enid Blyton or her books, a good place to ask is the Enid Blyton Society Forum.

Hi Heather. Long time, no speak. I came across your website addy on the Society webpage and thought.....I wonder if that's the same Heather. Not only was I totally delighted that it was, but equally delighted with your site. Quite a few of those photos I havent seen. I loved the photos of your collection and wouldnt mind some of those myself. As you probably know Ive been AWOL for about 2 years now. Its lovely to see you again and my heartiest congrats on an interesting and something different website. Software company hey..... ciao for now. Oldbookfan.
Heather (site owner) says: Hi again! Yes, it's been ages! I'll email you separately.
January 7, 2007 Rachel says...
I am back again Heather because i was trying to find a bit more about enid blyton. Out of all the Enid Blyton websites, yours is by far the best and gives me lots more information about her. You will be happy to know that recently i have just bought a new first edition Enid Blyton book, its one of my favourite "the put-em-rights". I really enjoy reading that book! Have you read it? Whose house/cottage is that picture of? Anyway lovely to see this website again, hope you reply! Rachel.xxxx
Heather (site owner) says: Contgratulations on finding a first edition! Yes, I did enjoy the book, although I found it a little "preachy" in places. If you mean the picture of the cottage at the top of my website, that's Old Thatch, a home that once belonged to Enid. Keith Robinson of White Oak Design designed that header for me.
January 5, 2007 Mithun says...
Dear Heather, I think yours is a wonderful site. I have a small doubt. Do you if know any films are there based on Blyton films? If so,can u please tell? Anyway, forget that. Thanks for your site. Bye...
Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Mithun. For a moment I wasn't sure whether I should answer your question or "forget" it.
Just in case you did want an answer: There have been several television adaptations based on Enid's books, but to my knowledge, no films. If anybody knows of a film, please let me know. The Famous Five was adapted for television, as was the Adventure series and the Secret series, among others. There have also been several animated series - Noddy and the Magic Faraway Tree are probably the most well known. A new animated series (very loosely) based on the Famous Five is in the works at the moment.

Gosh, Heather, how in the world do you find all these links?! It must take up a lot of time! Excellent job! But I have a question, why don't I sometimes get emails about updates? I always got them until a new photagraph was added to the album. I entered my mail in the "Be notified of updates by email" again thinking it was just a glitch. I was notified of the next update, when you added the ebooks link. Today I searched the weblinks according to dates added and I found some more new links. But I didn't get an email. Can you please give me an idea of what to do? Thanks
Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Ming. I occasionally don't send out an email when only a link or two are added (unless of course it's a very important one). I'm very conscious of not overloading peoples' inboxes - I know how much I hate receiving constant updates about things! Your email address is definitely in the list, so whenever an email goes out you will receive it.

Hi Heather!!! This site is really good(I know that I mentioned it before, but I can't help praising it!!).I hope I am not bothering you with my silly question but please answer it.How is that ANTI SPAM question going to help? What if it's the right answer,What if it's the wrong answer??I am very sorry but I badly want to know it!!
Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Shreya. That's fine, it's a fair question. I was getting hundreds of spam guestbook entries that nobody saw but me. I was spending far too long deleting them, so Keith Robinson of White Oak Design very helpfully wrote me some code to stop them. So far it seems to have worked, because I am no longer getting spam! If you answer the spam question wrong, or don't answer it at all, you will get a little page telling you to go back and try again. The message won't get to me until the question is answered correctly.
November 1, 2006 Ming says...
I've noticed something really strange recently in the Wikipedia article I told you of. The "Honours" content has been renamed "Statistics" and 600 million copies has been changed to 400 million. And at first there was written "Her Noddy books helped her to earn more than 100,00 pounds a year" but now this has been deleted completely. And there was one part which said Enid Blyton was the fifth in the "Index Translationum" but now this is also not there. Stupid stuff, all these changes, just winds people up!
October 30, 2006 Keith Robinson says...
In answer to Green_Monkey23's post on October 12, I have a copy of Opera on Windows and it works fine. The problem you're experiencing is most likely caused by your firewall -- Norton or whatever you're using. Switch off your firewall temporarily, and try viewing the site then. The firewall is stripping the page of all the image code, which it thinks is being helpful to you in some way! Hopefully this will solve the problem?
October 12, 2006 Green_Monkey23 says...
Sorry for your time.... Why i can't see images on this resource? My Browser is: Opera. Thank you.
Heather (site owner) says: I'm sorry, I'm not sure why the images aren't coming through for you. According to my statistics, almost all visitors to my website use Windows, and either Internet Explorer or Firefox, so those are the two browsers I test in. Although a few use some other browsers and operating systems, I unfortunately don't have the time to test every page in every browser and I don't own a Mac so I can't test on that either. I apologise to you, and to others who may not be able to view my page, but unfortunately it's not possible to please all people all the time.

Heather (site owner) says: Well, I don't know who's decided to pretend to be you, Mary, but I momentarily l thought that you may have learnt some manners. I think I've been patient enough - this will be the last time I'll approve any guestbook posts from you, or anybody pretending to be you, unless they are a little more constructive.

What a wonderful site Heather! Always something new to find! I printed out your Blyton Badges- so nice! Lovely to see my Blyton bookcase still on display, such a thrill to share it with all the Blyton fans around the world! A new Noddy Annual is about to hit the bookshops! Hardback too! Cheers, Deb

Good mind reading! Yes I was very impatient and all the more because my family ran after me each day asking whether that poem has been displayed. I was beginning to get tired of that and at last in desperation, asked you about it! :-)
Heather (site owner) says: No problem. You'll be happy to know I'm working on the update at the moment and it should be up sometime today or tomorrow.
September 19, 2006 Ming says...
Heather when will you update this site again? It's a bit disappointing to see such a good site showing the same things for along time! Please update it!
Heather (site owner) says: Ming, I update my site when there is enough relevant information to warrant it. And yes, when I do the next one your poem will be up there too - in case that was why you were so anxious for an update ;-)

That Spot of Fun page was a success! My friends loved it and I showed them to two of my teachers who were getting annoyed with us (goodness knows why). They laughed out loud in the middle of the class and forgot all their anger! It was a lifesaver for soon the whole class would have been sent to the vice principal for bad behaiviour. It was a narrow escape for us *sigh with relief* Lovely site Heather!
Heather (site owner) says: That sounds exactly like a scene from Malory Towers! I'm so glad it was helpful - and in such an unexpected manner!

Thanks Ming! 600 million copies! Wow!!!
September 11, 2006 Ming says...
Reply to Mohammed's message on August 30. I searched the web and found an article on Enid Blyton in Wikipedia. In the "Honours" content it says that her books have sold more than 600 million copies. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enid_Blyton for more information. Good Luck!

Hello Heather. Your Spot of Fun page is so good that when I told my friends about it, they requested me to print out that page and bring it to school! I printed it out just now and am waiting for the next day. No doubt it will be a great success with everyone! Good Luck!

Hi again, Heather... many months ago, someone wondered about the languages represented by the flags at the bottom of your page. They are Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, in that order from left to right. But don't rely too much on Babel Fish! I clicked on the Italian flag, and I saw that Bets has been translated as "scommesse", which refers to the bets one places on horses or in casinos. Pip has become "seme", which means seed. "Old chap" has been rendered as "vecchia screpolatura". Vecchia is old all right, but screpolatura sounds suspiciously like the cracks and wrinkles you see on dry skin. I should get around to doing a Babel Fish-inspired Italian version of Blyton someday. It should make for some interesting, if not exactly inspiring, effects. :)
Heather (site owner) says: That would be hilarious, Hari, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to seeing your "translations". I know Babelfish isn't perfect (well, actually it's often not even close), but I figured that to somebody who speaks little or no English they may at least be a help. Since I've now had visitors from 75 separate countries, this website is somewhat multicultural!
September 8, 2006 Hari Menon says...
Hi Heather, I just got around to checking your guestbook. I can't believe I missed coming in here! And Shreya, thank you for the kind words. But as Heather said, it's one thing to write a 400-word "chapter" and quite another to keep at it till a book is ready! I'll continue to contribute though -- if Heather agrees to publish what I write. ;)
Heather (site owner) says: I can't believe you've missed it either, Hari - where have you been all this time? Of course I'll publish you! How could I not when everything you write has me almost rolling on the floor laughing? Your comedic talent and incredible imagination continually amazes me.

Hi again, Heather. I love the polls and found your notes on the 'average visitor' very interesting indeed. It just about describes me (except that I'm slightly older than the average 40!!) When I took part in the polls I was amazed that so many others had agreed with my answers. Can't wait for the next set. Keep up the great work. Best Regards, Steve

Hello Heather! Will there be another chapter in the Mystery of the Trendy Togs by Hari Menon? It was too good. I enjoyed it. Very imaginitive of you to have thought of a page where you could have fun!!
Heather (site owner) says: Thanks, Shreya. And I've let Hari know of your comments too! His pieces are always priceless, and I love providing a forum to share them. Although he's often pressed to write more, he's very short on time - but let's hope he will continue the Mystery at some point.

Never did Ifeel so happy as I did when I read the Famous Five or the Find-outers.........

Very interesting, Web Site. Point of interest, I used to work at Darrell Waters Limited which dealt with all the rights to Enid's books, etc and the boss was a director on the board. I saw Enid once when I went to the Stoll Theatre in London to see 'Noddy' the lad who played him Bunny May used to go to my Sunday School and Junior School ! I also pass the place where Enid was born in Lordship Lane, on my way to work each day ! As a child I was a great fan and I still read some of my books which I still have to my grandchildren ! I still have the first Enid Blyton Magazine Annual from the early 1950's
Heather (site owner) says: Very interesting, Jean, and how wonderful to have seen the original Noddy play!

I like the site very much. It's good, well planned and most importantly very informative! I've heard that Enid Blyton wrote 50000 words a day. Is that true? I love voting and I've read that many others like too! be back soon!
Heather (site owner) says: Hi! Thank you for your kind words. Enid was very prolific indeed with her writing, but I think it's been said that she could write up to about 10,000 words per day. Still, an amazing feat!

Heather, can you please let me know that in how many copies have Enid Blyton's books been sold in? I badly want to know that. Some sources say that it is 60 million, 200 million while the Chorion says that it is 400 million! Could you tell me that which one is correct. I will indeed be very, very grateful. Warm wishes, Mohamed
Heather (site owner) says: Sorry, Mohamed. I really have no idea. I noticed you also asked the same question on the forums, and unfortunately if they don't know it's unlikely anybody does! It becomes especially difficult to quantify because Enid's books are printed by many different publishers in a huge number of countries and languages.
August 29, 2006 Sheila says...
Hello, good website and nice polls. I am quite young and I don't know the meaning of sexist. Could you tell me? Thank you. Sheila
Heather (site owner) says: Sexist is anything that discriminates against one gender - either male or female, but most commonly female. For example, Anne always washing the dishes in the Famous Five, or the girls being left out of night time adventures in the Secret Seven could be described by some people as 'sexist'. For further information, see this Wikepedia article

Heather, way to go !

I am always visiting this site like I suspect quite a lot of people do. The reason for this is because it is an absolutely smashing place to come. This is a fine place to browse as I sip my tea and eat my sandwiches, just as I am doing at the moment. Top marks to a smashing person who runs a smashing site. I have made a couple of compliments in the past, but it is so good I think it is worth a mention again. Well done Heather
Heather (site owner) says: Thank you very much, Jon (and others) - it's lovely to see so many nice messages lately!
August 22, 2006 Keith Robinson says...
I just wondered why Mary (in her post on August 21) would take the time to point out (incorrectly) that Heather's Blyton Pages "never gets any visitors." What a pointless and silly thing to say! Mary, you could learn a few manners. If the number of posts in a guestbook is more important to you than the site itself, then I suggest you join MySpace. Heather, I echo what pretty much everybody else has said here: keep up the good work! :-)
Heather (site owner) says: Thanks, Keith, for rushing to the aid of a damsel in distress! :-D
August 21, 2006 Mary says...
Why does no one ever visit your website??? Wondering how I know that? If anybody ever visited your site, they would surely drop a line in the guestbook......... Good website but very few visiters.
Heather (site owner) says: I'm very glad you like my site. I do have very detailed statistics of visitors to my website, but they are kept private. Enough people visit to be worth my time in keeping it updated, and if they choose to put a note in the guestbook it's up to them. I'm not interested in notoriety - all I'd like is to be a contributor, if just a little, to the exchange of information about a wonderful author.

Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Mary. I was under the impression that I updated the site quite often - only last week, in fact. Whenever I have new things to add they're always listed in the "Latest Updates" section on the home page, and if you join the mailing list you can get an email immediately an update is available. I do plan on putting out new polls soon.

Hi Heather! I really HAVE to post this message although I have by now posted quite a couple of messages! You see - I have found a simply EXCELLENT site where you can read Enid Blyton e-books! Can you beleive that??? You can read the e-books online or even download them! Wow! I just stumbled across this page on Google. The address is http://www.vb-tech.co.za/ebooks.htm.
Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Mohamed. Thank you for the link - I won't add it to my weblinks just at the moment (I want to check if there are any legal or moral problems with linking to it first), but people can definitely visit it through the address you have provided.

Hi Heather, I've just discovered your site via various links related to Enid Blyton books. Like everyone else here, I was brought up on a diet of her books when I was a kid in the 1950's. My favourites were Malory Towers and the Naughtiest Girl. I had a penpal in England who sent me each copy of MT as they were released over there, and I still have the full set. Unfortunately when I left my family home, all the books I'd left behind were chucked out when Dad remarried, so most of my collection went 'west', except for M.T. Love your story about your childhood! I'm racking my brains to think what town you are referring to! I am also in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne - funny if we live nearby!
Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Gina. Nice to meet another Melbourne fan!

Great site Heather, you've put a lot of work into it. Your collection is amazing! Once I've moved house I will find my books that have been packed away for years! Reading all this has brought many memories and reading the part about her pets was lovely!

Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Shreya. I'm glad you like the polls. I will change them eventually, but I'd prefer to get a wide cross-section of people voting before I do, so that I can get some real facts and opinions. I will probably change them in another one or two months.

Thanks for the Treasure Cave, Heather. Its my favorite section on this site. By the way - when I was about seven or eight years old I remember borrowing a book from my school library written by Blyton, but I don't know the name of the book. It features a naughty little doll who keeps on having mischief and playing tricks on her fellow toys. I want to read this book again but first I'll have to know the name. PLEASE HELP!
Heather (site owner) says: It sounds like you're talking about Naughty Amelia Jane - there are three books in the series: Naughty Amelia Jane (1939), Amelia Jane Again (1946) and More About Amelia Jane (1954)

This is a wonderful Enid Blyton site, I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing through it and taking part in the poll. I have been a lifelong reader of EB and am now a serious collector with over 800 books in my collection. I buy any copy to start with, my aim being to have a first edition of the original ,eventually... My husband can remember running to the local bookshop in the 1950's to buy the new Enid Blytons as they were published that must have been a wonderful thing to do. At 63 he still enjoys reading the Adventure Series and The Famous Five . I still think my favourite is The Secret Island the thrill of my first reading of it still lives with me .
Heather (site owner) says: Thank you very much, Janet. Your collection sounds wonderful, and as you may have seen on The Treasure Cave page, you share your favourite book with another very important person - Gillian Baverstock, Enid's daughter.

Great to meet you here, Prabhu!

Hi Heather! Its me Mohamed again! I am posting this message to say that I really love this site and even Enid. She is the Queen of Children's Literature. Although, I've read the Narnia Series by C.S. Thank you for your reply. The Enid Blyton Day was, as always, superb. One of the highlights for me was to see the original manuscript of "The Mystery of the Vanished Prince", which was on display in the hall. This was the book that introduced me to the series and so it was of particular interest to me. Although if I had to pick a favourite from the series, it would probably be "The Mystery of the Missing Necklace". I have sent you a couple of emails with attachments which I hope will be of interest to you. Thank you again for your response.

Hi heather, Im really rather in love with that picture of Old Thatch, it does bring forth a spontaneous outpouring of all that I had felt when reading one of HER books... happiness, adventure, and nary a sad ending in sight..! But the real reason for this note is the message sent by Jenny Moon on the 13th of April. Im rather fascinated that her father was an attendee at Enid's class, and even more so that he was the inspiration for moonface. Really, Jenny, Id greatly like to know more about this. Did your father share his memories about Enid..? Do you mean that Enid actually sat and sketched his face during class.. ? Go on .. do tell...! Im rather surprised no one has displayed any curiousity so far. And Heather, you are doing a splendid job..!
Heather (site owner) says: Jenny hasn't yet given me any further information on her father, but when she does I'll definitely be putting it on this site. So keep your eyes open for future updates!

Wow! This really is a great site. Heather, can you PLEASE add some letters of Miss Blyton and a page or two of her real manuscripts? Thanks a lot!
Heather (site owner) says: I don't have any letters from Enid Blyton personally, but anybody who does have them is very welcome to email me scans and I'll be very happy to display them on the site. I also don't have any of her manuscripts, but the Enid Blyton Society does in their members archives section. The web address is www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk - but you will have to be a subscriber to their Journal to access this section.

There is a Famous Five book I am looking for. I do not remember its name but I remember some incidents. The Five meet a girl who has a cat I think. She is illiterate. She says that an old woman who is imprisoned by the baddies in a building writes notes to her saying Good Morning...... That girl speaks Welsh. The Five put up a tent and Anne does the cooking.
Heather (site owner) says: I don't remember this book personally, but the Famous Five is not my forte! Anybody?
May 2, 2006 Mohamed says...
Wow this site is simply marvelous. And I love Enid Blyton. How about adding her biography?
Heather (site owner) says: Hi, Mohamed, and thanks for writing! My site is basically designed to pull together information from all over the web. Anybody wanting a biography can easily find one in my webslinks section, so I don't think it's really necessary to add another.

UPDATE: Anita has let me know about a short story collection called "The Goblin Hat", first published by Award in 1987. It might be of interest to your readers that my father, John Moon attended Enid Blytons's small nursery class. I understand that he was the architype for Moonface in the Faraway Tree stories. One could describe him as having an unusually oval face as well as the name! In one of her school reports for him, (which I have) she describes him as a 'stubborn little character'!

I grew up, with her books, read rather a lot of them. The Famous Five and the Secret Seven, and many others, while away my family gave them to Charity, (they had been in the loft well over 15 years) which i suppose is an OK thing, I mean someone else will get them and hopefully enjoy them. Thanks for this site, it gave back some wonderful memories.! John

Heather (site owner) says: Thank you all for your continued support. In answer to Deb's question, I honestly don't think I'm qualified to make a badge, but maybe you would like to suggest it to the Blyton Society? I'm sure the members would love one (myself included) - and who knows, they could become a collectible and sought after item in the future!

A really fantastic site. Congratulations, Heather - your site is an essential entry to everyone's bookmarks/favourites. We have a great trio of EB sites with yours, Keith's and the EBS. Hurrah!

What a great site this is! :) I love the illustrators' page and I'm staggered by the amount of Blyton links you've found. Smazing! I think I might just change my own links page to a single link saying "Go to Heather's Blyton Pages for links to other Blyton sites."

Heather (site owner) says: Thank you all for your kind comments. Glad you're enjoying my site! Be sure to check back regularly as more links are being added every few days, and the Blyton Illustrators page is growing whenever I have a spare minute to enter new information.

Thanks for a great informative site, and for helping keep alive the name of the greatest children's writer of all time, (J. K. Rowling - who's he?!)

Hi, Heather from Australia. I read your reviews on Keith's web site, they were great. I found this link on the Blyton group site and came over for a visit. Will check out the Japanese Find Outers! Good going! Cheers, Venkat

Very interesting links, Heather. It's that Japanese Find-Outers link that really intrigues me. How did you hear about that - did you just stumble across it? I'd love to see that TV series dubbed into English!
Heather (site owner) says: Anita, thanks for the feedback. I did just stumble across that site one day in a Google search, and I found it really interesting myself that the Japanese series existed! I didn’t even know Blyton was known in Japan.
